  • St. Bernard represented at little league world series
    Updated On: Jul 31, 2015

St. Bernard parish will be represented in the little league world series by one of our very own. Congratulations to Capt. Reggie Bergeron President Local 1468. We would like to wish little Reggie and the Eastbank little league a lot of luck on thier journey to Williamsport.

Eastbank little league was established 2 years ago in the greater New Orleans area.  It is an all-volunteer based organization, not affiliated with any local recreation departments or travel organizations.  They compete in the Official Little League International Tournament that people see every year on television.  The team is made up of 12 players that span from Belle Chasse, New Orleans, Des Allemands, Metairie, and 1 player from St. Bernard.  The coaches are Scott Frazier, Donald Abadie, and Jim Vogelaar.  This team’s journey started a few short months ago with 7 day a week practices, some lasting 8 hours!! They battled and won district against Bogalusa then headed to Bossier City last week and won the Louisiana State Little League Title. They faced powerhouse teams such as Lafayette, Bossier City, Avoyelles, and South Lake Charles. This state title has earned them the right to represent Louisiana and now play in the 2015 Little League Southwestern Regionals Aug 7th – Aug 13th in Waco, Texas. They will face teams from New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Mississippi to name a few!! The winner of this event heads to Williamsport, Pa to play for the International Title in The Little League World Series!

Reggie Bergeron is the only member from St. Bernard on this team.  He is 12 years old and plays 3rd base and pitches.  He was born here and loves living in St. Bernard parish.  He attended J.F. Gauthier from K-5th grade.  He was Student of the Year at JF Gauthier in 2013-14. He now attends John Curtis Christian School. He has maintained a 4.0 grade point average in school since 1st grade.  He has received numerous awards through the years and strives to continue to do well in school and in life. He loves to play sports and also plays football and basketball. He is a team player in school, at home, and on the field.  He is the son of Reginald and Catina Bergeron, who both were raised in St. Bernard and both currently work in St. Bernard Parish. He has one little brother Brock who is his biggest fan!! The games starting Aug 7th- Aug 13th will all be televised on the Longhorn Channel or ESPN.  Reggie is proud and honored to represent St. Bernard Parish this week on National television and hopes through hard work to represent St. Bernard in Williamsport, Pa.
