Capt. Eric Crotwell was recently recognized for outstanding service by the Officers and Members of Andrew Jackson Lodge #428.
Capt. Crotwell began his career in September of 2001. He has 14 years of service; and always has a "can do" attitude. Eric goes the extra mile when needed and without having to be asked. All of the rookie firefighters assigned to the first platoon are assigned to him. He teaches them our response protocols', street locations, apparatus operations, emergency and rescue tool procedures, and many other important topics.
During his career, Capt. Crotwell has been involved in many life saving operations. Such as the time, in 2009 at an apartment fire, when he and another firefiughter rescued a family of 3 from a second story of a burning building.
His professionalism and fortitude were displayed during many rescues the department performed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Captain Crotwell has certifications in Hazardous materials, High Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Vehicle Extrication, and Emergency Medical Response.
The future of the St. Bernard Parish Fire Department looks bright with officers like Capt. Eric Crotwell in our ranks. The parish is lucky to have such a dedicated firefighter in our fire service.
